We are a small, deliberately selective practice. That means the person who joins us works on live files from the first month rather than watching from a distance — and it means we take time over who we take on.
If you are training for the CS qualification, studying law or commerce, or looking for your first role in corporate compliance, this page sets out what working here is actually like, what you will learn, and how to reach us.
Life at MPS
Our office is in Madhu Vihar, New Delhi, and the whole team sits together — partners included. There is no layer between a trainee and the person signing the file. If you are drafting a scheme or preparing a diligence checklist, you will be corrected on it directly, on the same day, by the person who will argue it before the Tribunal.
We are a firm of Company Secretaries, an Advocate and a finance professional, which means the conversation across a desk moves between the Companies Act, a court order and a set of accounts in the same hour. For someone early in their career that mix is difficult to get anywhere other than a firm this size.
You work with partners, not around them
Every file is reviewed by a partner. Trainees are in the room for client calls and, where the matter allows, at hearings and Registrar visits.
Real files, from the first month
You will not spend a training period photocopying. Registers, minutes, filings, diligence checklists and research notes are handed over properly, with supervision.
Deadlines are planned, not sprung
Statutory due dates are known months ahead. We plan around them so that pressure lands predictably rather than as a series of late-night surprises.
Professional standards, held properly
An ICSI peer-reviewed firm. Confidentiality, working papers and documentation are taught as part of the job, not left to be picked up later.
Learning opportunities with us
Because we are a specialist practice rather than a general compliance shop, the exposure is narrower but considerably deeper. Over a training period with us you can expect to work on:
- Secretarial audit and due diligence — building audit checklists, examining statutory registers and filings, and drafting the observations that go into a report.
- NCLT and regulatory matters — preparing petitions and applications, compiling annexures and paper books, and attending hearings where the matter permits.
- Mergers and restructuring — assisting on schemes of arrangement, from the first draft through to filings with the Regional Director and Registrar.
- Compounding and adjudication — researching the default, drafting the application and following it through the authority.
- Routine and event-based compliance — minutes, resolutions, registers and MCA filings across a live portfolio of companies.
- Drafting — shareholders agreements, NDAs, commercial contracts, MOA and AOA, and the regulatory documents that sit alongside them.
- Research and opinions — reading the Act, the Rules and the case law, and learning to write a position that a partner is willing to sign.
Trainees are rotated across practice groups rather than parked on one type of work, and we encourage attendance at ICSI study circle sessions and professional development programmes during working hours.

Work-life balance
We will be straight with you about this, because most firms are not. Compliance work is deadline-driven: statutory due dates do not move, and the weeks around the annual filing season and a Tribunal hearing are demanding. What we can commit to is that those weeks are the exception and that they are foreseeable.
In practice that means we plan filings well ahead of their due dates rather than at them, we do not manufacture urgency to look busy, and we do not expect anyone to be reachable in the evenings or on Sundays as a matter of routine. When a matter genuinely requires late hours, it is acknowledged and balanced afterwards. Study leave in the run-up to CS examinations is planned into the workload rather than negotiated at the last minute.

What we look for
We do not expect a candidate to arrive knowing the job. We do expect the foundations to be in place, because the rest is taught here.
A working knowledge of company law
Familiarity with the Companies Act, 2013 and the basic structure of corporate compliance. Depth comes with the work; the grounding should already be there.
A good command of written English
Much of our output is written — reports, opinions, petitions, minutes. Clear, accurate drafting matters more here than in most roles at this level.
Communication skills
You will speak to clients, company officials and registry staff. Being able to ask a precise question and record the answer properly is half the job.
Care with detail
A wrong date on a resolution or a missed annexure is a real problem for a client. Method and thoroughness count for more than speed.
